I’m enthralled by Spanish artist Dionisio Gonzalez’s favela photo series. His images are created by digitally manipulating real photographs. He has featured a number of locations in this series, including Korea’s second biggest city Busan. (by Lauren Kilberg)

Although I have never spent time in Busan, this looks like the childhood I see when looking through my fingers at the inside of my head.

Today however I am somewhat old and through the windows of this small stone house I see emptiness and a hill that becomes a volcano. There are wild dogs in the garden, friendly but only Spanish-speaking. Korea, like childhood, is far away.

If you are ever passing by, I recommend these Canary Islands to you. It seems this place (like much of Europe) is a secret they keep to themselves.
