Mister Chu was sent a poem
and while the verse is partisan doggerel, it strikes him as about right, as regards the mood here in Austin and the thought (Mister Chu has) that many people not so bothered today about Mister Obama, may well be more bothered than they realize by the reality of Mister Romney being the planet’s most powerful man come Wednesday November 7th.
Or not.
That is the thing of democracy, as long as it is exercised.
Approaching Another Damn Presidential Election
I sense some vague ennui
(could it really just be me?)
on the part of the people in this boat.
That they might now stay at home
(and they might not be alone)
and forget about the value of their vote.We have all been disappointed
(by That One we so anointed)
we have had it with the chapter and the verse.
But without our intervention
(despite all this contention)
what we now consider bad will be much worse. We need to hold our pretty nose
(suspend those other woes)
and do the thing that grown-ups learn to do.
For without some sudden energy
(in place of this new lethargy)
upon the world will drop the other shoe.Don’t do it for Obama
(don’t do it for Joe B.)
do it for the ones who have no voice.
Get out and tell your neighbor
(do yourself this simple favor)
while you still have the freedom of a choice.
